What are web templates?
Web templates are predefined forms, which can be applied to web pages. The web template provides the skeleton for a web page in advance, which gives the page a more dynamic start. Web templates are widely used by individuals and organizations to set up websites. After the template is downloaded, it can be modified as the user finds it convenient. Templates are a great way for people to get their ideas online without having to hire people like webmasters or web designers to do it for them.
What is better, a free template or a paid template?
After taking a decision of creating a website, there will be thousands of options to choose from. It is true that the quality of the paid templates tends to be better than the quality of those available for free. At the same time though, there are a bunch of free templates that are waiting for you to find them. In the end, I think it only depends how much time you have available to spend on finding a template and about how much money you are willing to spend for it. While choosing a free template for most of the websites, which do not really relate to a business or do not aspire a business, is perfectly fine, having a business and cultivating your own brand changes the rules of the game a little bit.
What are the good and the bad of a free template?
The benefits of a free template are that you will not have to spend any money on it. The downside of a free template is that it is “free”. The template cannot be modified much and it is useful for businesses up to an extent. For example, if you have an online shop, you will notice that the free websites often lack some functionality, like e-commerce.
What do I get if I pay for a website template?
Depending on the place the template is bought from, you can either pay for it one time only, every month, or every once in awhile, as stated in the contract. The places, which charge more than one time, are usually offering access to a customer support team, which can help you, in case there is some problem with website.
Which should I choose?
It depends whether the website is built for individual or business purposes. If the website were for individual purpose, than the best thing is trying to get a free template, since time would be the only resource you would have to invest. If it is a business-oriented website and you do not afford hiring a webmaster to do the job for you, getting a paid template is the perfect compromise. On one hand, it gets you the website that you need, which you could customize, as you like. On the other hand, you might even have customer support, which would be a big advantage while running a business.
